New Year’s is around the corner. 2020 marks a new year but more importantly a new decade. Each year 40% of Americans make New Year resolutions, yet 80% fail to keep them. The statistics are staggering, so what does this mean for you? How bad do you want to lose weight? Start a workout routine? Begin meal prepping? Now is the time to really figure out what you want to achieve. At the time of publishing January has begun and just because you did not start on day one doesn’t mean you should give up on your dreams altogether. Let’s face it. Entering a new year is full of resolutions we are not likely to keep. If you want to make real change in 2020, create wellness goals that will help you achieve your dreams. Goals can come in all shapes and sizes. If meal prepping is on the list of to-dos’ you need to create a weekly shopping trip and cooking day in order to succeed.
Resolutions have no value they are thoughts, but your goals, Dig those!
Shifting the thought from a resolution to a goal will serve you far greater this year. In order to begin shifting these pesky resolutions, you need to determine your desired wellness result. It may be losing weight or simply creating a healthy morning routine. The goal itself doesn’t matter, what is important is you are taking notable action and are in the early stages of creating a plan that will serve you long term.
Once you have determined what the desired goal is you need to visualize the outcome before you even get started. I want you to feel amazing on your journey. Envisioning how you will feel on the journey and seeing your result will keep you inspired. Your journey may be difficult and, in this time, remind yourself of your success by turning to your vision.
Creating your goals and figuring out why they are important to you is the first, and most significant step in the process. You have set your sights on your goal, and you made a plan to achieve it. That is a great start, but have you asked yourself why? Why are you going after this goal? Is it significant? Is it for you or in memory of someone else? Getting clear on your why is another way to help you when the going gets tough.
When you have established your why you will have greater clarity. This focus will eliminate any hesitant thoughts that come your way and allows you to successfully overcome them.
After you have created your goals and truly understand their significance you can turn to their implementation. Like anything else you are trying to accomplish you should follow the SMART goal process. SMART goals are specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and timely. At first, I was not sure that this was going to help me in physical wellness but boy was I wrong. SMART goals helped me start eating right and proved me wrong again as I went through yoga teacher training. After you have envisioned your goal and visually saw success you need to get in on paper and creating a SMART goal to support your dreams will help you get there.
Creating a wellness goal is vital to your success. Once you are able to shift your mindset and set tangible goals you will succeed. The process is never easy but incredibly rewarding when you hit the finish line. I have faith in you girl, go after your dreams and rock it!
